An 8-ton mobile spider crane is a compact, tracked lifting machine designed for precision lifting in spaces where conventional cranes cannot go. The name comes from its spider-like appearance—four extendable outriggers that spread out to stabilise the machine, much like a spider‘s legs. Unlike traditional cranes that require wide, open areas for setup, this crawler spider crane fits through standard doorways, operates on sensitive flooring, and lifts heavy loads in confined indoor spaces. The YG-8 mobile spider crane delivers an 8-ton lifting capacity with a maximum working radius of 16.5 metres and an above-ground lift height of 18 metres.

When an 8 Ton Mobile Spider Crane Beats a Conventional Crane Every Time
Traditional cranes excel in open spaces with clear access. But modern construction sites rarely offer that luxury. High-rise building final stages, indoor installations, rooftop work, and residential builds all present the same problem: how do you get a lifting machine into a space that a truck crane cannot reach?
The access problem. Conventional cranes need room to manoeuvre. They require flat, prepared surfaces and wide access paths. A crawler spider crane measures just 5000×1500×1900mm on the YG-8 model. It rolls through narrow doorways, down corridors, and into elevators. The adjustable track width on many spider cranes allows them to squeeze through openings as narrow as 770mm.
The floor protection problem. Standard cranes damage sensitive surfaces. Rubber tracks and low ground pressure—under 0.05MPa on the YG series—mean this small spider crane operates on finished floors, epoxy coatings, and even marble without leaving marks.
The setup time problem. A conventional crane can take hours to set up. Outrigger deployment on the 8-ton mobile spider crane takes seconds. The 0-360° continuous slewing means the operator positions the load exactly where needed without repositioning the entire machine.
The access height problem. The YG-8 small spider crane reaches 18 metres above ground. That covers most multi-storey building work—glass installation, HVAC equipment placement, facade maintenance—without requiring external lifting support.

The Remote Control Advantage in Tight Spaces
The YG-8 mobile spider crane operates via remote control, with manual operation also available. In confined spaces, this feature transforms how work gets done.
- Operator positioning. The operator stands where the view is best, not where the controls happen to be. For glass installation or precision steel placement, this visibility matters.
- Safety distance. Remote operation keeps the operator away from the load path. In tight spaces where loads swing close to walls or structures, this distance adds a safety margin.
- Multi-angle control. The operator walks around the load, adjusting position as needed. This is particularly valuable in indoor settings where a single vantage point rarely shows everything.
- Pick-and-carry capability. Some small spider cranes offer pick-and-carry—moving with a load suspended. The remote control makes this manoeuvre practical, as the operator can walk alongside the load and guide it.

How 8 Ton Mobile Spider Crane and Suction Cup Work Together?
The pairing changes the operational logic of glass installation entirely. The spider crane provides the reach, precision, and access, while the vacuum suction cup provides the grip that actually touches the glass. Here is how they work together on site.
Access and positioning. The spider lift crane tracks into position—often through narrow doorways or across sensitive flooring. With the vacuum lifter attached to the hook, the operator manoeuvres the crane, guiding the searcher hook to the first glazing unit. The adjustable outriggers stabilise the crane on uneven ground, and the remote control allows the operator to stand where the view is best.
Lifting and handling. The vacuum lifter attaches to the glass panel using powerful suction cups. The operator lifts the panel using the crane’s boom, with the vacuum lifter‘s 360-degree rotation and tilt allowing precise orientation. Radio remote controls let operators make millimetre-scale adjustments, aligning the material perfectly with the building frame.
Installation. The operator guides the glass into position—often working under overhangs or through tight clearances. Once the panel is in place, the operator releases the vacuum and the crane moves to the next unit.
